Urban Forum 2026 to launch a discussion on Generation Z and public space

Can Generation Z influence the shape of the cities in which they live? The second edition of Urban Forum, in partnership with the Faculty of Architecture at BUT, will launch a discussion on 14 October 2026 about public space, participation and the role of young people in shaping the urban environment.

Urban Forum is a discussion platform focusing on public space and on who today’s cities serve and, conversely, who they exclude from everyday urban life. This year’s event will focus on the role of Generation Z in cities from the perspectives of culture, activism, participation and bottom-up community initiatives.

The discussion will provide a space to explore whether Generation Z has sufficient opportunity to influence the shaping of the urban environment and how they envisage an ideal public space. The theme will bring together the perspectives of young activists, experts and representatives of institutions involved in urban development and public participation.

The Faculty of Architecture at BUT is a partner in the project, which is taking place as part of the Kreativní Brno festival. The event is organised by the ArchiPop initiative, with the visual identity created by Takuu Studio. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
