FA BUT at the 2026 Landscape Festival in Hradec Králové
FA BUT will participate in the program of the Landscape Festival
in Hradec Králové. Together with the Faculty of Architecture at CTU, it is preparing an exhibition of student
and studio projects focused on the relationship between the city, the
landscape, and public space.
The joint exhibition will take place on the grounds of the
former public central slaughterhouse on Kydlinovská Street, where the opening
will be held on June 10, 2026. FA BUT will be represented by the
Krejčová–Doležel and Palacký–Dokoupilová studios, which will present both
experimental approaches to design and specific responses to the city’s current
urban planning challenges.
Design&build and Circular Architecture
(Krejčová–Doležel)
The Krejčová–Doležel studio is preparing a design&build
project specifically for the festival. The project is being developed in the
spirit of circular architecture—using recycled materials and in collaboration
with a local reuse center.
Through this project, students will focus on the so-called
Benešovka area—a boulevard of luxury housing from the 1980s, whose public
spaces today appear anonymous and underutilized. The starting point for the
design is the structure of an abandoned fountain, which raises the question of
creating a neighborhood swimming pool—or another form of shared space for the
local community.
Urban Laboratory (Palacký–Dokoupilová)
The Palacký–Dokoupilová studio will present projects from
the Hradec Králové Urban Laboratory, focused on the revitalization of the
area bounded by Resslova, Průmyslová, and Škroupova streets and Smetanovo
nábřeží. The studio will present the projects as part of FINALS! on June 10 at
11 a.m.
The master’s theses offer comprehensive urban planning
solutions and designs for mixed-use buildings and public spaces in the
northeastern part of the study area. The bachelor’s projects focus on the
architectural design of a corner mixed-use building at the intersection of
Průmyslová and Škroupova streets. The common goal is to create a high-quality
urban environment with an emphasis on blue-green infrastructure and adaptation
to climate change.
Landscape Festival: A Platform for the City of the Future
The Landscape Festival has long connected architecture,
urban planning, landscape architecture, and art in public spaces, opening a
discussion on the quality of the urban landscape. The 2026 edition will focus
on topics such as brownfield transformation, climate adaptation, and public
participation in urban planning.
