Results of the XXX Bohuslav Fuchs Award

The results of this year's XXX. Bohuslav Fuchs Award are here! The student competition, awarded twice a year by an independent jury, took place on January 22.

The jury was composed of recognized personalities of the architectural scene not working at the Faculty of Architecture:

  • Karina Humajová (Bakyta architects)
  • Jiří Vala (Atelier Vala)
  • Luděk Šimoník (AXXIOFFICE)
  • Janica Šipulová (Consequence Forma Architects)
  • Antonín Novák (D.R.N.H.)
The competition recognizes the best studio projects and the studios themselves and is organized by the SOFA student association.

Jury evaluation:
Current topic from the students' perspective and a critical reflection of current legislation. The studio points out problems related to contemporary housing and its sustainability in an interesting way, focusing on young people and their understanding of the meaning of the word home.

Matter Matters | Krejčová + Doležel
Koželuhová Aneta, Kubala Filip, Murínová Lucia, Nešporová Alžběta, Pečeňová Veronika, Schmiedová Šárka, Snopková Andrea, Adéla Bláhová, Procházková Tereza, Vlček Filip

??Jury evaluation:
We appreciate a realistic topic that leads students to confront the reality of small-scale construction and offers the opportunity to experience the construction process and the process from design to the final product.

Prostě Prostějov | Galeová + Sládeček + Štěpán
Miriam Holáňová, Jan Kurial, Martina Šálková, Jakub Tipán, Ema Trnková, Kateřina Zahradníková, Diana Sopúchová, Sofie Šimončiková, Pavla Benáčková, Karolína Černá, Barbora Volná, Adriana Hauke, Martin Kuběna, Martin Matoušek

Jury's assessment:
The jury appreciates the quality of work with a wide scope from the scale of urban planning to the specific design of the house. We positively evaluate the work with physical models and the subsequent presentation of the entire studio.

Finalists – Best studios
Planýrka | Singer + Hlavička
Orbit | Kaftan + Bolcek
Tovaryšstvo sociálního bydlení | Mielczarek
The Culture club goes Brick | Boetzkes + Pena
New houses in Old Brno | Toman
Build Back Better Jesenicko | Šušlíková + Buryška

Winners – Best Projects

Martin Drábek + Matěj Hromada + Jiří Marcián | Teatr Współczesny | Ateliér Rozwałka

IMG_5373.JPG

Jury assessment:
The project shows an unconventional approach to finding the concept of the building and the subsequent interpretation of the loose form. The intertwining structures show a concrete and even experimental approach to the classic assignment of a large house in the context of the city. The jury appreciates the form of presentation and work with a physical model.

Ema Hanušová + Veronika Janíková | Sky Concourse | Ateliér CHYBIK+KRISTOF

Jury assessment:
An infrastructure project reflecting on transport and public space. The combination of the theme of transport and the river as a recreational space with a bold approach leads to an interesting solution in both conceptual and formal terms.

Jan Galac | Velký dům | Ateliér Františák

IMG_5444.JPG

Jury's assessment:
Topical urban assignment and an adequately high-quality response to the solution of the gap. The project shows a comprehensive rethinking of this task and, in the context of the chalet works, demonstrates a high level of understanding of the need for such a task.

Sascha Hanáková, Kateřina Hrubá, Markéta Marie Elbel, Tereza Čamborová | Přítomnosti | Ateliér Toman

Copy of My_digital.jpeg

Jury's assessment:
The jury highlights this analytical work and the subsequent processing in the form of a book. The project works very interestingly with the description of places and relationships between people in Old Brno. It presents fieldwork and the perception of urban space in a diverse form.

Finalists – Best Projects
Gajdová | Extension of the Bednářova School
Šimončíková | Prostě Prostějov
Sandler | The House of Voices
Sude Dek + Lucie Martin | Social Weave

Winners – Best ZAR Studios (1st year)

Od hajzlu k hrobu | Galeová + Sládeček
Viktorie Andronikidu, Prokop Hanousek, Adam Pravda, Anna Musilová, Bára Musilová, Kryštof Hladík, Lumir Mandryk, Markéta Mynarova, Nicol Majerčiková, Nina Marcinekova, Tetiana Markiv, Veronika Danielová, Veronika Volkova, Vojtěch Stříbrný

IMG_5483.JPG

Jury assessment:
The small-scale theme, combined with an at first glance not attractive assignment, shows a comprehensive thinking about the architecture-object from the concept to the specific detail. The concept of the studio and the overall presentation showed a creative path to the first experience with the architectural process.

Herní prvek pro Vesnu | Krejčová
Dlouhá Nela, Hodicová Jana, Hromádková Šárka, Ňakat Michal, Pavlišová Elena, Pitrová Eleonora, Prouzová Jana, Prýmová Lucie, Surá Anna, Šeflová Kristýna, Višňovská Linda, Zoubek Bruno

IMG_5468.JPG

Jury assessment:
An interesting topic related to the little ones. Children, as often overlooked city dwellers, will more often than adults appreciate an imaginative and non-standard approach to understanding public space. We consider this Zar to be a very interesting alternative for one of the first interactions with the design and work of an architect.

Finalists – The Best Studio ZAR (1st year)
Vratětín | Sedlák + Havliš
Zabydli město | Joja
Adapt Element | Smržová
Toalety | Palacký
